SUSTAINABLE  MINE PLANNING

Welcome to my website! I am dedicated to advancing the field of mining engineering through sustainable mine planning and design. Mining is fundamental to human civilization, providing essential minerals for industries ranging from agriculture to high-tech, fueling economic growth and technological advancement. This sector not only enhances living standards by creating jobs and developing skills but also faces significant environmental and socio-cultural challenges. Addressing issues such as pollution, climate change, and community displacement is crucial for the industry's sustainable development.

My research focuses on strategic mine planning, specifically in determining the Ultimate Pit Limit (UPL) the final boundary of an open-pit mine which dictates profitability and environmental impact. Traditional methods like the Lerchs-Grossmann and Pseudo-flow algorithms have set standards for economic pit determination. However, my work aims to integrate sustainability assessments into the UPL determination process. This involves developing a new sustainability measurement tool to assess environmental, economic, and social impacts, formulating an optimization model that blends constraint programming with genetic algorithms, and validating this model with real-world mining applications. Join me in exploring how optimized, sustainable mining practices can reshape the industry for a better future.
