CONSTRAINED OPTIMIZATION IN LONG TERM MINE PLANNING
Most of the raw materials required for the development of the modern society are obtained by the means of surface or underground mining. Open pit mining is a mineral extraction method by which the ore deposit is accessed by digging a large opening in the ground surface, known as pit, to uncover the ore to the surface. Open-pit optimization is a process of optimizing the mining activities to maximize the profits obtained from mining with subject to multiple technical and economical constraints. Open pit mine design and long-term production scheduling is a critically important part of mining ventures. In my research, I am using constraint programming to solve the long term mine planning problem in presence of various technical and economical constraints to maximize the net present value (NPV).
