Prof. Biswajit Samanta

Professor, IIT Kharagpur

Biswajit Samanta is currently a Professor of Mining Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. He previously served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon, and at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Alaska. He received the DST Young Scientist award and the APCOM recognition award in 2016. He is currently serving as an associate editor of SME Transactions and the Journal of Mining Engineering and the Journal of MGMI. He is an editorial board member of Journal of Mine, Metal and Fuels, and Journal of Powder Metallurgy and Mining. He was an editorial member of the Journal of Wireless Technology as well. He has published more than 100 papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings. His current research interests include operations research, geostatistics, mine planning and AI applications in mining.
